{all-in-one}

The SS11 catwalk revelled in a riot of bold block colour, epitomised by Max Mara's silk jumpsuit in orange. The trend has trickled down to the high street, but I can't help but think that I'd look like a convict wearing head-to-toe orange!

The above illustration was based on an editorial in Harpars Feb2011 issue, and was inspired by Inslee's recent 'Orange Crush' post. Her work never fails to remind me that I really should experiment with watercolour (as yet unexplored territory!).

{Spring} Blooms

I shot these photos this morning in my garden. I love the fresh morning air and the peaceful tranquility in the hours when the spring sun begins to rise - before the world wakes up. I've recently made a habit of drinking my first cup of tea outside... a perfect start to the day!

I wish I knew the names of these flowers... I'll have to find out!

{Fendi SS11} Working girl...

Well, I'm employed!!! I don't want to reveal too much about my career-life on this blog, which is more of my art/fashion/lifestyle outlet, but what I will say is that the role is amazing and i'm literally over the moon! :)

What I would give to add this Fendi SS11 trouser suit to my working wardrobe!!!

{life} thoughts...

"...how successful you will be at ANYTHING is inexorably tied to the words and beliefs about yourself that you have stored in your unconscious mind." [Shad Helmstetter].

{la donna} oil painting

My inspiration for this painting derived from an advert for fake-tan, or shampoo, I can't quite remember! While I sketch women quite often, this was the first time I tackled the human form using oil paints...

My main focus was on the light & shadow of the skin and hair, and it made a refreshing change from my usual fashion illustration sketches and abstract-expressionist oil paintings (the latter of which has fallen by the wayside of late... I blame the job-hunt!).

{naked} ambition

The title of this post alludes, firstly, to the pencil sketch above which is the second in what is seemingly becoming a series of "Jack Wills look-book" inspired pieces! (I love the whimsical, wanton, care-free style & attitude of the models in the photos).

It also alludes to the newfound attitude with which I'm approaching my job hunt, that is, with ambition. My March thus far has been jam-packed: details to be included in my next post!

{art} thoughts...

"... the person who is looking at the picture is very much the subject... the picture doesn't come to life until somebody looks at it." [Peter Lanyon].
